MORE ON VASTU

The effect of moon on the tides in the sea reflects the influence of cosmic energy on elements of the Earth. Why should we therefore absolve ourselves from the influence of the cosmic world on humans? If the impact of the influence is so intense, we should evaluate the potential of aligning ourselves to the energies of the cosmic world and reap immense benefits. Managing the practical aspects in the construction of large projects and integrating principles of Vastu are our forte. Every living being on earth has a specific way of constructing their houses. The construction principles do not change though the material of construction may change. A bird has typical construction of her nests which do not change for years. Man has been experimenting with their ways of construction though the texts have specified ways centuries back.

Texts such as Matsyapuran, Samragna Sutradhar explain the architectural aspects with an eye on Vastu. A unique blend of the two results in auspicious well-constructed houses or buildings for the use of man. The five elements of the universe viz; Earth, water, fire, Air and Space are closely associated with the human body. There are 7 chakras of the human body which represent the elements of the universe. The Chakras are Energy centers in the human body and a balance of each one of them in the human body results in overall health and happiness. The Mooladhara Chakra located in the feet of the human body represent the element “Earth” of the Human body which gives the body stability.

The Swadishthan Chakra located just above the Genital Organs represents the “water” Element of the human body. The Manipuraka Chakra located just below the navel symbolizes the “Fire” element. These three Chakras represent the physical aspects of the body and other 4 chakras represent the Spiritual aspect of a human body. The Anahita or the Heart Chakra is the transition between the lower chakras and the higher Chakras or one may say transition from a state of survival to the state of liberation. The next chakra is the Vishudhi Chakra which is located in the Throat. If all the energies can be concentrated in this chakra, the human becomes very powerful. The Vishudhi Chakra or the throat chakra enables a human to manifest his/her life beyond the limitations of time and space. This chakra symbolizes the “Space” element of the human body. The respiratory system of a human represents the “Air” element of the universe. If a human is able to balance the energy flow across the chakras, there arises a human who has all the controls of the physical aspects of the body. Therefore, the influence of the elements of the universe in the dwelling that one stays/works in is clearly understandable. When we meditate, we are told that one should concentrate on the breathing. This controlled breathing is actually controlling the Air element in the body which in turn helps the human to control the negative emotions. Each stress situation results in the constriction of flow of energy from one of the Chakras and therefore an unbalance in one of the elements of the universe. Saints of ancient years used to meditate in the Jungle which clearly represents the vastness and space around the body. The Space element is emphasized here for proper energy flow in the body. Similarly there are many more aspects which are relatable to the the elements of the universe and the Human Body. Vastu is the science of home building controlling these elements in the building and bringing harmony in the lives of the occupiers of such buildings
